Perhaps you've been carrying a pain that no one else can see. You've smiled when others asked how you were doing, while silently wondering if your heart would ever feel whole again. Maybe you've endured betrayal that left you questioning people you once trusted. Perhaps you've walked through divorce, devastating loss, illness, disappointment, rejection, or a season that seemed to bring one hardship after another. You prayed. You believed. You held on. Yet there were moments when it felt as though you could barely catch your breath.
If that's where you are today, I want to remind you of something that has carried countless believers through their darkest valleys: God never wastes anything. The pain was real. The tears were real. The disappointment was real. But none of it is beyond God's ability to redeem and restore. Romans 8:28 reminds us that for those who love God ALL things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. Notice what Scripture says. It doesn't say that all things are good. It says that God works in all things for the good of those who love Him. That means the heartbreak doesn't have the final word. The betrayal doesn't have the final word. The diagnosis doesn't have the final word. The disappointment doesn't have the final word. God does.
Throughout Scripture we see this pattern of pain and purpose again and again.
Joseph was betrayed before he was promoted.
David was hunted before he became king.
Naomi's bitterness gave way to redemption.
Job's suffering was followed by restoration.
Israel experienced exile before God declared, "Again I will build you."
The story was never over in the valley. And yours isn't either.
I believe there are people reading this who have quietly wondered, "Will life ever be joyful again?" Well, let me tell you the answer is certainly not found in the circumstances. The answer is found in the character of God though. And yes, life will absolutely become joyful again. He is still the One who heals the brokenhearted. He is still the One who restores what has been broken. He is still the One who turns mourning into joy. He is still the One who gives beauty for ashes. He is still the One who makes all things new.
So don't measure God's faithfulness by the chapter you're living in today. The God who turns mourning to joy is writing your story. There is healing you have not yet experienced. There is joy you have not yet discovered. There are relationships for you to have. There is an earthly love looking for you to and when the time is right the Lord will cause the two of you to find one another. There is the restoration and redemptive power of God you have not felt yet. There is purpose you have not yet seen. Hold on because I believe one day soon, you will look back and realize that what threatened to destroy you became the very place where you encountered God's faithfulness in ways you never could have imagined.
The pain will not define you. God's faithfulness will. Hold on. Keep trusting. Keep believing. The God who brought you this far is seeing you through. He is restoring. He is rebuilding. He is redeeming.
I believe the day is coming when you'll see that even in the darkest season, His hand was faithfully leading you toward hope, healing, and a future filled with His goodness. Your story will not end with what happened to you. It will end with what God did through you.
Shalom,
Tammy Lynn
